Rite of Christian Initiation of Youth (RCIY) or Adults (RCIA)

For youth (Gr. 6 to Gr. 12) or adults who have not yet been baptised or who have been baptised into another Christian faith, or who seek First Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

About RCIY:

· Youth and a parent/sponsor meet weekly at St. Charles to learn about the faith and prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist).

· Sessions are 1 hour in length.

· The sessions begin in mid-October and end two or three weeks after Easter.

· Youth and their families participate in several special celebrations along their journey, culminating with the youth receiving the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.

About RCIA:

· Adults and their sponsors meet weekly at St. Charles to learn about the faith and prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist).

· Sessions are held on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm.

· The sessions begin in early September and end at Pentecost (May or June).

· Adults participate in several special celebrations along their journey, culminating with receiving the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.

What you need to register:

· Copy of youth/adult’s Birth Certificate

· Copy of youth/adult’s Baptism Certificate (if applicable)

· Copy of youth/adult’s 1st Eucharist Certificate (if applicable)

· Optionally: A sponsor for the youth/adult who is an actively practicing Catholic, over 16 years of age, and who has been Baptized, Confirmed, and received Holy Eucharist. The sponsor cannot be the parent or legal guardian of the youth/adult. The sponsor for an adult entering the RCIA process is asked to attend the sessions with him/her.

· Both parents must attend the appointment to register a youth.

RCIA begins Thursday September 15th at 7PM upstairs.
